The Quest For Oil

Second section at Pittsfield
Lead oil train.  NMJ
A trio of us headed north today (Thursday 7/19/12) in search of oil...

The first half of the most recent test oil train was in NMJ when we arrived around 10am and it was still there around 2pm when we left the area.

Second section at Pittsfield
We watched the second half pass through Pittsfield (same as reported on GRS Sightings List).  However, it only got as far as Detroit just down the road.  The lead 2 units switched the feed mill and then the crew ran out of time or something.  We left at about 4pm with the train held up in Detroit.

We did not hear the first oil train leave NMJ on the scanner while we were in scanner range.   We could hear the Bucksport local and NM-1 in that same general area until south of Waterville.

If we had had time, we would have chased after the BNSF power that got a Form D to head west from Waterville around 5-6pm.  "C an E Extra BNSF xxxx"...   No six axles east of Waterville today.

Welcome to HAPT's Railfan Adventures

The Hebron Any Power Team is actually just a bunch of fun-loving rail enthusiasts who enjoy photographing and chasing all things railroad with friends. This bunch of guys cover a lot of ground for a group based way up "nawth" in Maine. We also have friends scattered around the country who contribute well to our hobby. In fact, our name is derived from our actual friends in the Worcester Foreign Power Team, except that Hebron hasn't seen a train since the 1950's so we'll settle for "any power".

Welcome and enjoy the eclectic collections of the contributors. Maine idealizes "life in the slow lane" so we present this blog as an effort to share our less time sensitive findings and to add to our hobby.
